    I’ve looked at this for a while and I’m going to call fake on this…. its got to be pretty old from the style of whats in the picture, so I would guess before universal input switch-mode power supplies. Given that UK has 240V mains supply and that is a US plug dangling there at 110V, it would go bang pretty much straight away. It is also pretty difficult to insert anything without an earth pin in the top hole (the internal design of the socket does not expose the Line and Neutral terminals unless the earth pin is present). Also can’t help but notice there are no screws in the facia which suggests to me it was done purely as a “how not to” type campaign pic….
